What's in a name?

They are also known as synthetic or crystal pearls, with the latter name referencing their crystalline structure and pearl-like sheen. These artificial pearls are as optically beautiful as their natural counterparts.

The look

Lacquered artificial pearls have a deep, lustrous shimmer, similar to that found on high quality natural pearls. Their uniform size, shape and colour make them ideal for all types of jewellery. Man-made pearls are available in a wide variety of colours.

Composition

Lacquered artificial pearls consist of a core of man-made crystal covered with an innovative pearl-like coating. The pearl coating comprises of a base coat and a nitrocellulose lacquering. The thickness of the final lacquering is approximately 0.1mm.

Durability

With a hardness of 6.5-7 Mohs and good toughness, the lacquered artificial pearl is durable and ideal for use on all types of jewellery.

Use a clean, dry antistatic cloth for cleaning and maintaining your lacquered artificial pearl's lustre. If dirt has built up over time, wipe gently with a clean microfibre or lint-free cotton cloth dampened in lukewarm, soapy water and pat dry with a clean, dry cloth.
