In Western culture, an engagement ring is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand, or the ‘ring finger’. This tradition dates back to Ancient Rome when it was believed that a vein ran from the fourth finger on the left hand directly to the heart. Choosing the right engagement ring size is about finding out the size of your partner’s fourth finger on their left hand.
