Man-made stones

Nano crystal

Nano crystals are both strong and incredibly beautiful, just like those who wear our jewellery. Not to be confused with naturally occurring crystal, nano crystal is entirely man-made, which means colour can be entirely uniform and results in less waste.

The look

Created in a laboratory, a nano crystal's chemical composition is a mixture of oxides and silicates grown within a glass matrix. Synthetic crystal is available in virtually all the colours of the rainbow, meaning the possibilities for jewellery design are endless. We say the colour is homogenous, meaning that its shade and saturation does not vary from stone to stone. Some stones are also created to display various optical effects usually associated with natural gemstones, such as opalescence, an optical play of colour phenomenon you can see occur naturally in opals.

Durability

With a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale of hardness and good toughness, nano crystal is durable and therefore ideal for use on all types of jewellery.

Love your stone!

Care for your man-made stone by avoiding rough handling. When you're not wearing it, store it separately from your other pieces to avoid scratches. Clean it with lukewarm, soapy water and gentle brushing in circular motions.
